Consulting and Ethics Part I: Consultants’ Perspective
Survey consists of information from 78 consulting firms regarding ethics and consulting. Topics/questions include:
Part A: (completed by respondents in the role of prime [lead] consultants):
- Does your company have a written policy on business practices when it comes to teaming with subconsultants?
- Out of the past five proposals that you were involved in, how many times did you use a subconsultant?
- Was a teaming agreement between your firm (the prime consultant) and the subconsultant put in place the last time you used a subconsultant?
- What is your feeling towards teaming agreements?
- Are you offended if a subconsultant asks for a teaming agreement prior to joining your team?
- Do you feel that teaming agreements should be part of the process of forming a team to respond to an RFP?
- What means of communication from subconsultants do you prefer when they contact you about the possibility of teaming for a project?
- When subconsultants leave messages about possibly teaming with you on a project, how often do you respond back to them?
- If you ask a subconsultant to be exclusive and they agree, do you think that they should be entitled to a greater percentage of work than if they were non-exclusive?
- Do you feel that it is necessary to provide feedback to the subconsultant regarding comments the client made to you about the subconsultant’s work?

- If a prime asks you to be exclusive on the team and you agree, should you be entitled to a greater percentage of work than if you were non-exclusive?

- How often do prime consultants get back in touch with you after you have contacted them about possibly teaming on a project?
